X-Men Art – Some old drawings

Well, I just thought I’d post here a bunch of drawings of mine that are from a while ago. Since this is an art blog and all XD. One is missing from there (I haven’t scanned it yet), but all of them are X-men that I essentially copied/redrew from various comic books of mine that I know and love. Not traced, just redrew. Sometimes I added my own color spunk in there just because I could. Anyways, they’re all at my deviant art which I don’t actually use too much. So feel free to check them out and comment and whatnot, I like some of them quite a bit 🙂

Design Three: Survival of the Fittest: Submission

For my third design, I had a little trouble. I wasn’t immediately getting a great idea and I realized I didn’t have nearly enough artistic skill to do the ideas I was thinking of. Eventually I came up with this idea, and I was actually fairly happy with the results. Yet again, I flew solo this time around.

DESIGN NUMBER THREE: Survival of the Fittest

Submission Site: Shirt.Woot! ( here )
Challenge/Competition: Derby #83: Exercise ( here )
Submission Date and Time: Friday February 20th at 6:27PM
Concept: In the design, you see four Dodos working out. Dodos are, of course, extinct and according to Darwin, weren’t fit to survive. So these Dodos are like “we’re going to survive by working out and becoming the fittest”. Yeah. Basically playing off the idea of Darwin’s survival of the fittest and making an excuse to draw Dodos. The more I thought about it the less sense it made, but oh well, drawing dodos is fun.

Design: (shirt comp)

Link to sumbission: here
Voting requirements: Must have bought one Woot! shirt to vote for the design.
Outlook: Lesser of good. I did feel good about this design but no immediate wonderful reaction. I just hope that it does okay. Outlook is fair, I got good feedback from friends, but doubtful that the woot community will like it as much. Ah well. Did a pretty good job though.
Goal: Get at least +30 and one comment.

Other notes: The design was yet again on my own so all of this was drawn by myself. It took me a couple tries but it beat out my other ideas, one of which was an evil treadmill from hell. I colored it by hand using pencil and paper, each of the birds individually. Then I scanned and played with it a bit before resizing and moving the Dodos. I colored it in Photoshop Elements 5.0 yet again.

I would love thoughts on the design either via Shirt.woot! or via this blog or even via another site if you’re onea my homeskillz from there. Thank you so much for reading and looking at my design. Results will be posted when voting closes, same as last design.

May the force be with you, Abby

Design Two: Not your Average Paper: Submission

For my second design, I flew solo and designed a shirt in it’s entirety on my own. This is my submission. It’s still up for voting, and will be for I think another day or so, so if you’re interested in voting and supporting, read on and check it out. I was surprisingly happy with my submission for this week’s derby. The topic in and of itself was a huge inspiration for me because it suited me so well.

DESIGN NUMBER TWO: Not Your Average Paper

Submission Site: Shirt.Woot! ( here)
Challenge/Competition: Derby #82: Individualism ( here )
Submission Date and Time: Saturday February 14th at 9:18AM
Concept: In the design, all of the paper looks the same and is the same old same old. The paper crane is being individualistic by being a crane instead of your regular flat old paper. I fold paper cranes, so that was where I drew my inspiration and where this came from. Basically, in case it don’t make sense yet, the paper is trying to be an individualist by, instead of being flat, being a paper crane.

Voting requirements: Must have bought one Woot! shirt to vote for the design.
Outlook: Okay. When I submitted, I didn’t have the best feeling because I’m not that great of an artist. However, I felt like I inked it well and was quite happy about that. Outlook turned slightly better when I noticed how it was doing.
Goal: Get at least +20 and one comment.

Other notes: This was done on my own, so all of the art is original, and I was quite happy with it. My dad gave me some advice and I went through about four drafts before getting it right, plus some misc crane drawings. I drew it by hand in pencil on regular computer paper, inked it with a brush pen, and then uploaded it and colored it in Photoshop Elements 5.0

Let me know what you think of it, either via shirt.woot! or on this blog! I appreciate any comments and especially appreciate any votes. Thanks for reading guys!

Design One: Aztec Afternoon (a collaboration)

For my first design, me and my friend Katie worked together. She drew and I inked and conceptualized. The following is the two posts combined that I will usually post for my designs because the judging is finished. So in the future, there will be two posts. One with the entry and one with the results. I’ll separate them in this post. So here it goes.

DESIGN NUMBER ONE: Aztec Afternoon

Submission Site: Shirt.Woot! ( here)
Challenge: Myths and Legends ( here )
Submission Date and Time: Saturday January 24th at 4:20PM
Concept: The Quetzalcoatl from Aztec religion was our inspiration. We liked the idea of it flying in front of a sun, because it is the sun god afterall.

Design: (shirt comp)
Aztec Afternoon

Link to sumbission: here
Voting requirements: Must have bought one woot shirt before to vote for the design.
Outlook: Bad. This is our first design and unhappy with some of the lines.

Other notes: This was done in collaboration with my friend Katie, unlike most of the other designs on this blog.

Results for DESIGN NUMBER ONE: Aztec Afternoon

Votes: +12
Ranking: 172nd
Improvement?: N/A
Future notes: Lines, lines lines!
Other notes: Not that heartbroken, fairly well for first design.

(in future posts, I will also include a link to the design and possibly an image here)

So that’s it guys! Hope you’ve enjoyed the first shirt design of mine. This is from a while ago. Look forward to more of these here in the future, more of which will be done by just me. The art for this one was done by my friend Katie as mentioned, not me. Feel free to leave your comments on the design in the comments thing for the blog. Thanks for looking and reading!
